To celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, Sinai Residences held an intergenerational event with 50 sixth-grade students from Donna Klein Jewish Academy.
In the spirit of the Jewish holiday, the students and residents decorated lemon cookies courtesy of Sinai’s Chef Todd and culinary team, engaged in intergenerational conversations, and learned more about Sukkot courtesy of Sinai Residences’ Rabbi Tract.
Sukkot is celebrated for seven days beginning October 16 and going through October 23. To celebrate, many Jews build a sukkah, which is a small hut. Jews live, eat, and sometimes even sleep in the booth during Sukkot, commemorating the time the Israelites spent in the wild — in huts of their own — after being freed from slavery in Egypt.
