12:00pm Update

According to this morning’s latest update from the National Weather Advisory, multiple rounds of heavy rainfall associated with rainbands may lead to flooding across South Florida. Rainfall totals may range 4 to 8 inches through Thursday, September 29 with higher totals possible in certain areas. Flash-flooding will be possible. Tornadoes from the outer rainbands associated with the system occurred last night and the threat will continue today.

We continue to track Hurricane Ian, as we currently under a Tropical Strom warning. According to weather experts, our area should expect the brunt of the storm today between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. The safety of our residents, families, and team members continues to be our priority. Following is an update on our emergency preparedness plan.

  • All guests and non-essential individuals should have departed our campus at this time.
  • Please do not exit your buildings to go outside. Only designated staff are permitted to walk to/from the East Campus to the West Campus. Once we have ensured the community is free and clear of any potential hazards, we will notify you.
  • Valet and transportation services are currently suspended at 12pm. We will inform you once they have resumed.
  • Personal housekeeping is currently on hold. We expect to resume housekeeping in apartments tomorrow; however, that will be contingent on weather.
  • Key members of our leadership, maintenance and housekeeping team will remain on campus tonight. If you have a maintenance emergency, please call 561-400-0685.
  • Culinary update for tomorrow, Thursday, September 29: Continental breakfast will be served in the Oasis and Bistro; Lunch will be takeout only; Dinner service is still TBD.

As a reminder, our Hurricane Preparedness Plan consists of recommendations from regulating authorities such as the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) as well as supplemental precautionary guidelines and procedures developed from our own extensive experience and expertise in hurricane preparedness.

Our community is well-designed and well-equipped to shelter in place throughout a hurricane. Should a power outage occur, our team members can continue providing service so residents may safely shelter in place. Backup power generators will function and provide lighting and air conditioning in the event of a power outage. The backup generators have been expanded to include capacity for cooking, heating, and powering elevators.
